Abstract:
The Trust for Public Land's decision about purchasing Lyle Point is revealed, and some astounding aftermath events are described. Students will now have additional information to discuss whether the Trust made the right decision, and how an organizational mission should be balanced with prudent financial considerations.

Learning Objective:
In addition to portraying the tensions between rural America's local governments and urban conservation interests, this case provides students a cost/benefit analysis, when grappling with the decision-making process associated with conservation land transactions.
