Abstract:
This 4-page sequel to HKS Case 1068.0 is part of a series of hypothetical sketches about quintessential municipal leadership problems facing fictional "Mayor Evan Sweeney." This case looks at tradeoffs and strategic options available to the mayor when budget cuts are required. Others in the series address questions of labor relations and political influence. These cases explore the mandates and limits of political power through tightly focused decision-forcing narratives.
