Abstract:
This pair of fictionalized accounts form the basis of a role-playing exercise in which participants explore the relationship between a foundation program officer and the executive director of a major social service agency funded by the foundation. The exercise provides distinct accounts of the relationship between foundation and agency such that discussion participants can be divided into two groups. The ensuing discussion is meant to explore such issues as the impact of donor suggestion on funded agencies, the candor level between the two, and the responsibilities of each when an initiative fails.
